CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

At Austin Yoga Lounge, we’re passionate about meeting students where they are in their pregnancy journey. Our goal is to create a space for your to connect with your body and baby.

If you’re in the conception phase, our restorative and intuitive yoga classes are excellent for balancing the nervous system and preparing the body to conceive.

Our prenatal classes are designed specifically for expecting students, these gentle sessions focus on building strength, flexibility, and relaxation techniques tailored to support you during each trimester. Through breath work, gentle stretches, and mindfulness practices, you'll cultivate a deeper connection with your changing body and baby, while alleviating common discomforts such as back pain and fatigue. Join our supportive community of mothers-to-be as you nurture yourself and your baby on this incredible journey.

Our postnatal classes were created to support new students in their physical and emotional recovery after childbirth, these classes offer a safe and welcoming space to reconnect with your body, rebuild strength, and find moments of peace amidst the whirlwind of caring for a newborn. Through gentle movements, pelvic floor exercises, and relaxation techniques, you'll restore balance, reduce tension, and promote healing from within.

  • These classes are for students who are preparing for labor and birth. Students of all levels of yoga experience are encouraged to attend, and most begin prenatal yoga during their second trimester. Students can expect to:

    • Reduce stress + anxiety

    • Improve sleep

    • Increase strength + flexibility

    • Work to relieve common pains caused by pregnancy (low back, nausea, headaches, sciatica, etc)

    • Prepare the mind, body, and spirit for labor and delivery

    Always consult your doctor or midwife before beginning classes.

    We respectfully ask that only pregnant students attend prenatal classes.

  • Prenatal Vinyasa is an energizing class designed specifically for pregnant students with an established yoga practice to support their physical and emotional well-being throughout pregnancy.

    This invigorating practice integrates the principles of Vinyasa flow with modifications tailored to the unique needs of pregnancy.

  • This is a full-body strength training class for mothers-to-be. The movement style is rooted in functional exercise, Pilates, and barre methods, emphasizing mobility, safe core control, and mindfulness.

    You will learn how to move with confidence throughout your perinatal journey as you gain techniques to prevent and/or repair diastasis recti and pelvic floor dysfunction while conditioning the full body.

  • These classes are designed for the postpartum student and baby.  In these classes, students can expect to increase energy levels, strengthen + tone the muscles in the pelvis and core, and work towards relaxation and stress relief.  Within this practice, students will be led through poses and sequences that can help to alleviate the discomforts that can come from nursing, holding, and lifting while connecting with other new parents in a safe and nurturing space.  Babies of pre-crawling age are welcome.  

    It is recommended that students wait 6 weeks if recovering from a vaginal delivery and 8 weeks if recovering from a C-section.  Please consult with your doctor or provider before participating in class.

  • Intuitive yoga is a personalized and fluid approach to yoga that emphasizes listening to one's body and following its cues. Unlike structured or pre-planned sequences, intuitive yoga encourages practitioners to move in a natural and nourishing way for their unique needs in the present moment.

  • Restorative yoga focuses on relaxation and rejuvenation through gentle poses held with props. Emphasize stillness, using props for comfort. Incorporate mindfulness and end with a gradual transition and final relaxation. Suitable for all levels, restorative yoga promotes deep relaxation and overall well-being.
