Tea Tuesday

  • Austin Yoga Lounge 1008 West Avenue Austin, Texas, 78701 United States (map)

A slow morning for Austin moms craving a moment out of the house

Some mornings you don’t need a class. You need a warm cup in your hands, a comfortable seat, and a few other people who understand exactly where you are right now.

Tea Tuesday is a slow morning at Austin Yoga Lounge for anyone craving a moment out of the house. Come be surrounded by others, let the kettle do its thing, and let the morning unfold at its own pace. There’s no agenda and nothing to prepare for. Just good company and a quiet space to land.

What to expect

You’ll walk into the Carriage House, our studio tucked behind the main house on West Ave in Old West Austin, and find tea brewing and snacks set out. Pull up a seat on the floor or a cushion, settle in, and stay as long as feels right.

Some mornings the conversation flows easily. Other mornings it’s quieter, and that’s welcome too. You can talk about sleep, feeding, birth plans, or nothing at all. The point is simply being somewhere other than your living room, with people who get it.

From time to time, we’ll invite a guest from Austin’s birth and parenting community to join the circle and share what they know. When there’s a guest, we’ll say so in the event listing.

Who Tea Tuesday is for

Whether you’re in the last stretch of pregnancy, in the blur of the fourth trimester, or just ready for a little connection, you’re welcome here.

You don’t need to be an AYL student to come. Tea Tuesday is a gentle way to see the studio, meet a few faces, and find your people in Austin.

House Rules

These rules create a safe, respectful, and nurturing space for mothers to connect, share, and support one another without judgment.

  • Confidentiality: What is shared in the circle stays in the circle. This ensures a safe space for open and honest conversation without fear of judgment or gossip.

  • Non-Judgment: We come from different experiences and perspectives, and all feelings, choices, and experiences are valid. This is a space where everyone’s journey is respected.

  • Active Listening: When someone is speaking, we listen attentively and without interruption, holding space for their words, emotions, and experiences.

  • Speak from the Heart: Share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences honestly and authentically, using "I" statements (e.g., "I feel...") to express your own perspective.

  • No Comparison: Each mom’s experience is unique. Avoid comparing or offering unsolicited advice unless asked, and instead, offer empathy and understanding.

  • Support, Not Fixing: This is a space to offer support, not solutions. Sometimes just being heard is enough—let's hold space for each other’s emotions without trying to "fix" them.

  • Respect for Silence: It's okay to take a pause or simply listen without feeling the need to speak. Silence is just as valuable as words in this space.

  • Honor Your Needs (and your baby's): If at any point you need to step out, take a break, or check in with yourself or your baby, honor that need without explanation or guilt.

  • Compassion and Empathy: Approach each other’s experiences with compassion and empathy, recognizing that motherhood is complex, and we all have our own challenges and triumphs.
